The basics
What is Atlas?
Atlas is a media server and player. You install the server on your own computer, connect the media and services you already have, and watch it all in the Atlas app on your TV, with an iPhone app in development.
Does Atlas come with movies, shows or channels?
No. Atlas is a neutral player, like other self-hosted media players. It doesn't include, sell or point you to any content. It plays your own files and the services you already have access to.
When can I get it?
We're finishing the first public release now. Join the waitlist and we'll email you once, when it's ready.
Sources
What can I connect?
- Media folders of movies and TV on your computer or a network drive.
- Radarr and Sonarr, if you already use them.
- Your own IPTV subscription: M3U (with an XMLTV guide), Xtream Codes or a Stalker portal.
- Cloud and add-on services you already use, including a debrid account of your own.
Every source is optional, and you can mix them.
Do I need Radarr, Sonarr or another media server?
No. Atlas works on its own. If you already use Radarr and Sonarr, Atlas can read their libraries.
Can I use Atlas with no sources at all?
Yes. Atlas opens on trending movies and shows from day one, so you can browse right away. Your sources then add ways to watch.
Devices & requirements
What do I need to run the server?
A 64-bit computer (Intel, AMD or Apple silicon) with 8 GB of memory, running macOS, Windows or Linux, or a NAS that runs Docker. Atlas uses hardware video conversion where your computer has it. The computer needs to be on while you watch.
The installers are coming soon.
Which TVs and phones are supported?
Google TV and Android TV, including streamers. The iPhone app is in development, and iPad will run it too. There's no Android phone app yet.
Does it play 4K, HDR and Dolby Vision?
Yes. On capable TVs and streamers, Atlas direct-plays 4K with Dolby Vision and HDR10, and passes lossless surround straight through.
How do I add a TV?
Install the free app on the TV and it shows a code. Approve that code in the Atlas admin on your computer, and the TV is ready. Approving it by scanning a QR code with your phone's camera is coming soon.
Can I watch away from home?
Coming soon. The iPhone app will connect straight to your own server, with quality that adapts to your connection and downloads for offline viewing. There's no cloud relay in between.
Price & privacy
How much does it cost?
$10 once for your household, with unlimited devices. The apps are free and never ask you to pay. There's no subscription. Pricing details.
Do I need an account with you?
No. There's no Atlas account and no Atlas cloud. The household's admin password lives on your own computer.
Do you collect what I watch?
No. Your watch history, settings and profiles stay on your computer. The apps send no viewing data to us, and there are no ads.
Does Atlas connect to the internet at all?
Yes, for movie and show information (titles, artwork and trending lists, from TMDb) and to reach the services you connect. None of that includes what you watch.
Does this website track me?
No. There are no ad pixels or trackers. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies. See the privacy policy.
